Many of us know Amazon.com as the online retailer that sells products from discounted electronics, to everyday home goods and beauty products. Amazon has never been known to sell clothing, however, the company has branched out and is planning on launching their very own fashion line.
According to Women’s Wear Daily, Amazon has been hiring people for their Amazon Fashion Private Label Team. The job listings were posted recently, including vendor-management roles, senior sourcing managers, software development engineers, associate/senior buyers and many more. Descriptions for these jobs included, “Amazon Fashion is seeking creative, goal-oriented and highly entrepreneurial people to join our exciting and fast-paced team. We are focused on growing and developing a smart assortment of brands and providing easy access to fashion, within the best possible shopping experience for our fashion customers.”
Amazon is already on track to be the biggest fashion retailer in the U.S., and Fortune predicts that they will even overtake large fashion department stores like Macy’s and Nordstrom. However, some are skeptical and have become worried that Amazon may not be “stylish” enough to meet consumer needs. In response to these claims, analyst Adam Silverman says that “if they can get the right trend and deliver it quickly, it will garner recognition.” No one knows exactly when this exciting new brand will launch, however, insiders predict early 2017.
