Outfits for your New Year's Eve Party

By Marcella Kukulka

2016 has been full of fashion highs and lows so let's make sure that tonight is one of the former. Bring in the new year with style! Here are four different outfits curated by the editors at The Avenue to help inspire your wardrobe for New Year's Eve.

SPARKLE & SHINE - Women's Formal Wear

How about ending 2016 with a trend that started it? A sequined midi skirt is a great piece for a formal ensemble because while it is fun and flirty, it's length remains sophisticated. For contrast in color and shape, add a neutral crop top or tight bodysuit like this one from Bardot Crepe. While wearing gold and red simultaneously can make an outfit seem loud and overdone, on New Year's Eve anything goes! To stay comfortable while you dance the night away, pair your ensemble with some cute kitten heels and a lightweight clutch of the same color.

Bardot Crepe - Bodysuit (White, $18.5)

TFNC - Pleated Midi Skirt (Rose Gold, $80)

Miss KG - 'Tara' Clutch (Red, $55)

ASOS - Interlocking Circles Necklace (Gold, $7.5)

ASOS - Hoop Earrings (Gold, $10)

New Year's Eve is always a fascinating time for men's fashion because there are the men who pick suave ensembles and the others who wear the wackiest thing in their closet. Either option is good, but one might be better for a swanky night out on the town. This outfit plays with the use of subtle patterns contrasted with basics. By pairing a unique, purple paisley patterned blazer with a plain turtle neck, the outfit becomes interesting but not overwhelming. Likewise, trousers from afar may look unicolored, but up close one can see the plaid pattern. To top off this ensemble, wear your coolest pair of loafers - these holographic rainbow shoes, for example, are both flashy and understated at the same time.

ASOS - Longline Roll Neck Jumper (Black, $27)

Tallia - Paisley Sport Coat (Purple, $298)

Boss - 'Leenon' Flat Front Plaid Trousers (Black, $147)

Topman - Wool Blend Trench (Black, $250)

Mezlan - 'Cole II' Venetian Loafer (Black Calfskin, $215)

Infinite - Mesh Analogue Watch (Stainless Steel, $30)

MODERN HIPPY HOP - Women's Casual Wear

White wide-leg pants paired with a sexy black camisole and you will be prepared for wherever the night takes you. This outfit goes from formal to casual in a matter of seconds with a loosely fitted bell-sleeve blazer. Since black and white match with anything, the color of your accessories are up to you. However, adding a bit of silver to make your outfit pop is strongly suggested.

ASOS - Deep Plunge Lace Insert Camisole Vest (Black, $34.50)

New Look - Bell Sleeve Blazer (Black, $38)

Premium Crepe - Wide Leg Pants (White, $54)

Steve Madden - 'Kandi' Loafer (Silver Leather, $80)

Forever 21 - Beaded Chandelier Earrings (Silver, $11)

SEQUIN SLEEK - Men's Casual Wear

Whoever said that boys can't wear sequins was way off! This ensemble is built with a warm and comfortable, yet flashy sweater as it's statement piece. Just thrown on your best-fitted pair of black skinny jeans and favorite leather jacket and you'll be ready to rock and roll. Paired with a pair of shiny black boots and a fedora makes this 3x more "fab" but you can skip out on this step if you're not ready to take this outfit to the next level.

Sibling - 'Great Jones' Sequin Jumper ($593)

519 - Extreme Skinny Stretch Jeans (Black, $55)

Vince Camuto - Assymetric Moto Jacket w/ Sherpa Lining (Black Leather, $199)

Rockport - 'Toloni' Boot (Black, $100)

ASOS - Flat Top Fedora (Black, $27)
