Autumn Inspired Makeup Tutorial

By Jill Kligler

It’s the time of the year to bring out your dark lipsticks and warm eyeshadow palettes! Besides the changing leaves and excuse to buy more boots, fall makeup is my personal favorite part of the season. I’ve put together the perfect autumn eyeshadow look that’s both wearable and easy to recreate. So get out your fall themed palettes and let’s get started!

Step 1:

Apply concealer to your lids and under the eyes to create a long-lasting base for your eyeshadow. Set this with a translucent powder to avoid creasing. I used NARS Radiant Creamy concealer and NARS loose translucent setting powder in “Crystal.”

Step 2:

Use a burnt orange or warm brown eyeshadow as a transition shade, and blend upwards towards your brow. I’m using “Raw Sienna” from the Modern Renaissance Palette by Anastasia Beverly Hills.

Step 3:

Pat down a gold, glittery shadow on the center of your lid. To increase the intensity, blend a small amount of concealer on your lid before applying the eyeshadow. I recommend “Half Baked” from the Naked 2 Palette by Urban Decay.

Step 4:

To create the halo effect, concentrate a dark brown or burgundy shade on the inner corner of the lid and the outer crease. Deepen the color by gradually adding more until you achieve your desired look. To make it more dramatic, blend in black eyeshadow on the outer and inner corners. Follow the black eyeshadow down to the lower lash line and blend. I used a mix of “Red Ochre” and “Cyprus Umber” from the Modern Renaissance Palette and for the black eyeshadow, I used “Black Market” from Urban Decay’s Naked Smokey Palette to add dimension.

Step 5:

Finally, use a black pencil eyeliner along the top lash line and blend it out. Finish with mascara. I used Maybelline’s Lasting Drama Gel Pencil in “Sleek Onyx” and my all-time favorite, Covergirl Lashblast Volume Mascara.

That’s it! Five simple steps for flawless fall makeup. Pair this eyeshadow look with a nude or dark burgundy lip, such as “Exposed” by Kylie Cosmetics or “Sin” by MAC, to complete the look.
